“I love this place. Right in the heart of the Marina, fillmore and Union, this is an unpretentious cafe, with nice folks behind the counter, good affordable food, coffee and pastries. Great place for a casual meeting, lunch or a glass of wine after work.
1hr free wifi with each purchase. Good place to bring a laptop and do some work. Not too loud apart from at lunch time.

Jonnatan Leiva is constantly reinventing the menu at Jack Falstaff. It's sad when a favorite dish is taken down (skate wing, beef cheeks) but there is always something new to explore.
The staff is indeed very nice and helpful. The wine menu is nicely stocked and very reasonably priced. ”

“
Elizabeth Falkner's "Orson" boasts an amazingly specialized menu of small plate dishes and specialty cocktails that are not be found anyplace else in the city. Every item is assembled with unique ingredients or interesting twists on old faves.
The menu's culinary samplings explode with flavors that dazzle the pallet. The portions are just right to tease you and let you wanting for more. If the portions were entree sized they would probably be overwhelming.
Falkner opened Orson with the intention of it being a late night haunt for people to grab light nibbles. Diners should take that as a warning and not expect to easily make a meal out of Orson's menu of small plate dishes. Size-wise, I'd say they are somewhere between sample and tapas portion. You will rack up a small fortune of a bill and still not feel like you are satisfied.
Orson offers a treat of an experience but that is about extent one can call it. ”

“Relaxed, chill, great ambiance, unpretentious with a cozy indoor and delightful outside area, this is a great spot! Best for hanging with friends or a group. Drink a beer -- or four -- and dine on quality Irish pub fare, including a meat pie, hearty stew, and mouthwatering steak fries. Also has salad and side of veggies for those watching cholesterol or calories. Not Fleur de Lys, but doesn't claim to be. Generally friendly wait staff. Can get a little on the loud side, but hey, that's part of the ambiance too. Reasonable prices. Enjoy! ”

“Caveat: this review is only for the bar and *not* the restaurant:
$10 for a beer, attitude included. The 11oz beer was actually only $8.50 but the waitress rounded up to $10, without informing me, kindly saving me the hassle of deciding how much to tip her for her near-smile. I'm so glad I waited in line for 45min to get in.
On the plus side it *is* a lot cheaper than flying to Hollywood for the same look-at-me snobbery. I never bash a place without at least two visits. I gave this place three and it got worse each time.

I just had the pleasure of dining at Fune Ya on a friday night. Small wait of 15 minutes and we were seated in front of the sushi boats. I have been here 3 times before, but this time ALL the boats were the same price of $1.95. Wow, that made it so much easier. We were free to try everything this time without budget concerns. Seems the choices were better this time too. If they keep the set prices I think they have winner here. “Wow, these are seriously some good taco's. I had a shrimp taco & beef taco both with the make it super option(adds, sour cream, guacamole, cheese, lettuce & tomato). I think next time I'll just take the taco's with sour cream and none of the extras from the super option. They were good but my tacos became a scattered taco/meal to eat with a fork at that point. There salsa they put on them can either be mild or hot, I chose the hot option, It was hot, but not a 10, more like a 6-7 range, thats some good heat. Inside Pancho Villa is super clean, which is always pleasing. They have even won some serious state fair awards for the salsa. Staff was very cheerful which just added to an already pleasant experience. I can't wait to go back :-).

Save your money for the gas that it will take to drive somewhere else. The music being played was old, not even german, this place has no personality and or charm like one would expect at a german Restaurant. Beer selection was good and the best part about this restaurant was leaving and heading out for desert. ”

We were starving, we choose another place in the area but they were closed. We drove around a little; Wayne found a parking spot and Darla's “Possibly the Best Burger Around” sign caught his eye. I had the Salmon Burger; I thought it would be a nice piece of fish grilled on a bun. Instead it was a ground Salmon patty with onions and who knows what else. It was kind of strange and I did not really care for it but ate about half because I was starved. The fries were okay and the onion rings were good. I love the mini brownie that comes with the check. Not sure I'd return with so many other options in the area.

“I started off with a salad. Thinking all salads are served cold or room temperature, my salad was cooked and hot. I was a bit shocked, but after re-reading the menu it did say Warm Radicchio & Escarole. I took warm to reflect the taste or spice. Overall I did enjoy the salad, it had a nice grill flavor and it looked like they cooked it with bacon. I tried the pizza with italian sausage, panna “cream” & spring onions. It tasted good, but the crust was micro/paper thin “photo below”, which lead to a soggy middle pizza and I had to eat it with a fork. The pizza topping did taste yummy. A friend ordered a different pizza with caramelized onions unfortunately it had no tomato sauce, it's suppose to be this way on purpose. I also ordered bruschette of fava bean & pecorino, it was very salty which killed the taste. I really enjoyed the interior, its clean and simple. Friendly staff made the experience all the more enjoyable. ”

“Cute enough storefront on a long street full of storefronts. The food is a hit and miss deal here. My grilled calamari on a bed of arugula had a good portion of squid flesh that was smoky from the wood grill flames. My lamb sirloin was overcooked and a tough chew. The broccoli was overcooked. The roast potatoes were dead on arrival. The red wine reduction sauce meant to save the lamb was waaayyyy too sweet. Bambie had the fish stew. The light broth was pleasing. The chunks of salmon were almost tasteless. Using frozen farmed fish I bet. But I liked the flavors & aromas overall in this dish. Portion size again was generous. This fish stew was certainly better than my lamb. Bread is IL Fornaio, served warm & crunchy the meal highlight. dessert: Spumoni & Afogatto just passable. Damage was: $100. I brought my own wine. I eat in Burlingame only when at SFO to catch a plane. My previous trip featured a dinner at nearby Stella Alpina italian restaurant. Stella Alpina food is much better. ”

If you like a trailer trash atmosphere, this place is for you. The food is bland and boring but most definately my most hated restaurant in my neighborhood. If I wanted to eat bad food with a bunch of barflies, this would be my place. I'm judging this place on one merit. The food. Not worth wasting a dime. Bar atmosphere ? If your not trailer trash, you won't fit in. The burgers have no flavor and I wonder if the cook knows how to cook. Their special plates of the day, thai Curry Whatever. Leave that food to the people who know how to cook it. Prime Rib night, overcooked and bland, one night worth staying home. Pasta dishes, one small thing, season your food , salt is a good start. Overall, there are a lot better places around this area, give them a try first. Not even a fun place for a cocktail. ”

“This place was really awful. I expected way more out of it due to recommendation from friends but to be quite frank, I felt this place discriminated against my fiance' and I due to the fact that we are a bi-racial couple and apparently we looked "young". I'm 26 and I can't help it if I look 18!!! Anyways, besides the fact that so many other people WITHOUT reservations got seated before us (and we asked for a table first) and besides the fact that they tried to seat us OUTSIDE in the cold without asking for our indoor/outdoor seating preference, the food was a horrible disappointment. No taste is the key word. The food was dull, over-priced, and the portions were ridiculous. I mean I eat slow to begin with but it took me no less than 8 bites to polish off my main course! This place is highly pretentious, stuck up, and to say the least over-rated. save your money, time, and appetite for somewhere worth your while. ”

Within spittin' distance of Coco500, an obvious gauntlet has been thrown down, upping the ante with irresistible small plates and hyperexciting flavor combinations. Who could resist a dish of duck fat french fries with brown butter bearnaise sauce, worth a trip alone. Foie gras bon bons dipped in grand marnier and cocoa, an unexpected combination, or a chocolate pizza, drizzled with melted chocolate onto a sinfully spiced pizza crust. Sensationally flavorful presentations include a buttermilk fried chicken slider, asparagus with black garlic sauce, a parmaggiano pudding, delectable in simplicity, halibut in green curry broth, roasted pig, short ribs in potato foam, a feast of cutting-edge delights. Not to be outdone, desserts cap the tous ensemble: a fabulous sundae with banana mousse and candied pecans, or astonishing Pigwich with maple bacon ice cream. ”

“Imagine that Pasta Pomodoro & California pizza Kitchen got married and had a beautiful daughter. She grows up, moves to Sonoma to start her own restaurant. She is the Red Grape. This is where us Sonoma locals eat. The pizza are advertised as New Haven CT style thin & crunchy. They are that. They also come with your choice of 100's of toppings. I prefer the hand made pasta dishes here. Sonoma Pasta is made down the street. Ask your service person about the monthly special. My orchiette with sausage was in a clear broth, had cannnelini beans, fresh basil and loads of skinless italian sausage. Giant bowl cost $13. Wine list is very Sonoma County. Again fair prices, generous pour in a Riedel glasses! The dining room is spartan, yet artful. Monthly art exhibits decorate the walls. Open back patio for alfresco lunch. Monthly wine maker events, too. Want to become a Sonoma insider? Eating here is a good start. ”

“Unlike other places, Hydro doesn't do anything badly. It is the quintessential fly below the radar restaurant and bar that caters to tourists coming here wanting to be covered with garden dirt. The staff seem to be concerned more with your complete dining experience as opposed to if your chicken was done too dry or the special of the day is still available. This handout for mid aged spa set shows their expertise in new California cuisine, ways to make a leaf of lettuce stand at attention is paramount to the overpowering stench of truffle oil as you enter this establishment. The further you transverse from the city the harder it is to count on a stellar dining experience. One down to earth monument is that they serve great beers in this sea of wineries. The service can be taxing as well as the client?. The only thing is normal is the moderate prices for the portions provided. Enter at your own risk of being overwhelmed by visitors from another planet. Oh,it's located in Calistoga. ”

“Wayne and I did a taco tasting in the mission, we sampled 3 different restaurants and started with La Taqueria, we could have just stayed here IMO. I got the dorado (crispy) beef quesadilla (w/corn tortilla) $5. This was the closest I've had to the famous crispy tacos I make for my friends. The beef was flavorful and of higher quality than most other taquerias. The pico de gallo was fresh and finely chopped and the green salsa on the tables was a perfect balance of heat and acidity. Extremely casual open-air decor with large tables inside and a few small ones outside. I grabbed a spot at the counter window outside, which I think was the best seat in the house. I looked on as the cooks chopped, melted, fried and assembled little mounds of meat, cheese, pico de gillo, sour cream and guacamole, swaddled inside a corn tortilla. Best taco I've had besides the ones I make at home, I would return in a heartbeat. Enjoy! ”

It is nothing special, in fact it is so average that I wouldn't go out of my way to ever come here again. The large pie (combination) was a expensive $ 27 for which I would rather go to pizza Hut and save half the funds. In addition the crust was tasteless as seen by the leftovers on all the plates. Good places we enjoy the whole slice to the last morsel. The service was the sad story here. Disinterested workers just counting the minutes before they can start cleaning up and go home. The attitude was that we were bothering them by bringing them business. No too good nowadays, so one of two things will happen here. “Festive casual interior, a jukebox playing surrounded by brightly painted walls with long communal tables so you can see what your neighbor is eating. I got a mexican coke and a super beef taco. The super taco comes with a healthy portion of meat, melted cheese, sour cream, salsa and freshly scooped avocado. Pretty impossible to eat with your hands, I still gave it a go and was happy I had a stack of napkins at hand. You get a small dish of chips and salsa with your order, however the chips are not house made and not that great, the green salsa is very good though. It looks like a favorite is the wet burrito as many of my neighbors were chowing down on those babies covered in red sauce, cheese and chopped onions. While I enjoyed my visit here, I would not make a special trip to the Mission for this one.

“Sam's right - Nothing will happen here that will amount to anything revolutionary in the culinary world - It can move 300 people on a turn, and everyone has a reasonable expectation of consistency from the product. 300 people on a turn is institutional cooking by any measure, and proper italian cooking is anything but, so there will be trade-offs. It's not crap like Olive Garden, but it's still italian food for people who aren't italian. The service was good. The salad was very fresh and well prepared. The penne al vodka had chicken in it and was served roasted. The prosciutto was more of a 1/8" bacon type cut, and was almost certainly pancetta masquerading as its way superior sibling. The bread was oven fresh. I didn't come to this carefully consulted and engineered chain expecting much, so I was pleasantly surprised to find the food as fresh and well prepared as it was. If you need to feed some cranky haters for whom a trip up the road to Alice's would be a waste, Romano's will do. ”

“Why go to Colibri? For me its the Scallops and the prepared table side guacamole. Angela and I were the guest of Colibri, and I have since gone back on my own dime to enjoy again with my mom. On the first visit I had the scallops which are now my benchmark for how scallops should be. They were tender, flavorful and just down right tasty. The other dish I thoroughly enjoyed was the Guacamole, its prepared table site, and they will add just the ingredients you want, it was super yummy, although chips cost extra and you have to ask for them. On my second visit they did not prepare the guacamole table side. Yes it was a disappointment, since I dragged my mom to experience table side preparation, “its still listed as table side on the menu”. Don't expect americanized mexican food, this is unique authentic mexican cuisine. Price about $45 p/person, easy parking at union square. ”

The service was so so, we had to ask for bread and water and this wasn't until our salad course. Between the seven of us we sampled a bunch of dishes, the sole and the cioppino won our vote, the prawns and scallops were really good but portion size was far to small. We tried the crab cakes per everyones recommendation here and we really did enjoy them. We all had hankerings for mojitos earlier in the day but when we arrived the bartender only enough mint for one, so of course that went to the birthday girl. “I try to be charitable when the food out paces crap service, but in this case, I'm merely obliging the staff of Farmer Brown with this neg. I get it - It's the cost of 'keeping it real.' This is the kind of place that is about the statement first, and the food second - based on the dubious belief that the food will carry the day. I admit I was impressed with the Cassius Clay documentary playing on the wall, and the bohemian hipster concept of the room, but where they lost me was with the staff who are too cool for school - actually, too cool for food service as well, which is really unfortunate, because they are in the food service business. I would be sickened to see such a pathetic parade of nonsense, save for the knowledge that no place survives long in a crap neighborhood with a crap staff providing crap service. Maybe that's the big idea, but rest assured the damage to the credit rating of the owner when this place tanks will long outlive any legend they think they are building. ”

“
This restaurant is the most dirtiest restaurant in San Francisco that I know. The waitress at bakery section will use the same glove to get the money and touch the bread and pastries. They are also very rude. They need to be educated especially in sanitation. I don't understand why this kind of restaurant is still exist and why San Francisco Health Dept. will allow to let them open the store. I am a restaurant owner myself and I make sure my employees are friendly and clean. Our restaurant score are always top 100 for the last 3 years. ”

“I wanted to try this spotless well kept restaurant for a while, but they're only open for dinner. On a first time japanese restaurant visit, I would normally order a dinner combination of Tempura/Sashimi/Beef Teriyaki, however that's not on the menu. Here at Chin's sushi bar they like to mix it up, in a good way. I ordered my favorite items individually. I really enjoyed the tempura it was light and tasty, plus it had five juicy shrimp, most places give you two, nice touch. I'm excited to go back and see if the tempura is consistent, because it was pretty good, seriously. The Maguro sashimi was yummy as expected. I'm thinking right now, there is no such thing as too much Maguro Sashimi :-). I found the menu a bit confusing, maybe just add photos, my photos below. I wish the menu had a few more tradition japanese menu combinations, but I respect the creative menu and I'm surprise more people aren't talking about it how unique this place is, notice the chili peppers on the roll. ”

“I ordered food from this restaurant for the first time in a long time last night and was reminded of how dependably good it was. I got a falafel wrap, but their babaganoush is great as well as their lamb shawerma. The food is very reasonably priced and is ready so quickly. It's a counter situation with very few barstools. ”

“Wonderful food and great service! The portions fit the prices and everything we ordered was delicious. I had a crepe with ham and cheese and an egg on top. My friend ordered the caesar with salmon, and it had quite a bit of salmon. It didn't feel crowded inside even though it was totally full during the lunch hour. ”

“Located in Western Sonoma County, Hwy #1. Attached to the small Valley Ford Hotel. The restaurant prepares and only serves locally acquired food. Fresh daily oysters from Drake's bay. Beef from local rancher-butchers. Local produce, of course. The food here is rustic-sublime. Authentic flavors, cooked with pizz-zazz. My pork shoulder was melt-in-your-mouth perfect. The portion was he-man size. Served with corn griddle cakes, braised swiss chard, baby carrots & turnips. The price was $19. Bambie had pan fried sea scallops with fantastic briny ocean flavors. Lemon meringue pie was farm house perfect. Not too sweet, meringue just the right amount of leathery texture on top with poofy cloud below. Real grown in the backyard Meyer lemon custard.
Full liquor bar. Decent wine list with mostly Sonoma labels. Fun, young crew.
Specialty nights like Kung FU Tuesdays: A DVD martial arts movie with Pan asian food.
This is the perfect get-outt'a-the-city destination. ”

“I've purchased buns, pastries, cakes, shui mai here. Over the past 15 years I've tasted everything that they make. When I'm driving on 19th Ave & I'm hungry (oh that's like always...) I drop into Victors. Sometimes I don't even bother to pop a quarter into the parking meter 'cause I know that I'm gonn'a be real fast.
The goods here always warm my heart. They are cheap - 75 cents average for a meat filled bready bun. They are warm, they are filling. They are vacuous asian equivalents to McDonald's value meals.
This is not health food. But oh my peasant italian heart appreciates the good cheap eats that Victor's pumps out. This is ambrosia for toothless old men, hungry beggars and me. ”
