“ Review by C McGravarn below hits the nail right on the head. This is a "G" rated blues club in a downtown basement. You can safely bring your conservative mid-west parents. I've come here dozens of times for the music. A few times I actually ordered the food. southern inspired menu made by an earnest but amateuw kitchen staff. It's Culinary Academy of America student fare. You ain't gonn'a get sick, and you ain't gonn'a spend a lot of $$$. The club actually is a non-profit foundation for the performance of america's homegrown music. Typical ticket price is $15 for a night's worth of loud live music. Sometimes it's quite good with up & coming national level stars. I've always had a good time. Park in the downtown Mason st garage after 7:00 PM for $12. You'll have a fun nitetime date in the gritty city for less than $100 for everything. ”

“ First of all, i'm not a big fan of blues at all but i thought it might be fun to check the place out. I was so bored and the food was not good at all. I left the place as soon as i finished my meal, before the band finished their songs.

“ I am not a big blues fan, but that will not taint my review (I went there with a wedding party, so the venue was not my choice). The music was extremely loud for such a small, low-ceiling room, but I thought the food was terrific. We had the catfish fingers as an appetizer, then the crab cakes for an entree. The crab cakes came with yam fries that were so tasty! I usually do not like yams. Both plates were delicious, the portions were generous, and the prices were decent. ”

“ I'm not opposed to touristy places as long as it's good, but this was not. I've gone twice just because of the music and both times I was disappointed with the food. Can southern fried chicken have a little more flavor please? There is no coordination with the restaurant servers and the blues club, because our meal went 30 minutes into our show. We lost track of the time and no one was there to bail us out. The music is great, but maybe stop at Jack in the Box first. ”

“ So, if your parents are in town, and you want to bring them out for a night "on the town", this is the place. Great music, great biscuits, fun atmosphere, and fairly g-rated. You can generally walk in, in my experience, and usually something enjoyable will be playing. ”

“ a great place to see a blues show! it's really a fun place to go to, and quite intimate place as well. i'm not sure if i really enjoyed the food (it was just okay IMO). felt like i could get better soul food elsewhere (ie. the east bay). ”
