“ We were so hungry when we went to Mayflower. Unfortunately, the wait was long and the servers had difficulty understanding english -our orders came late and wrong. The food though is good, but our experience was disappointing. Maybe it would be good to go there during off peak hours.

“ Really good dim sum. Pot stickers, shrimp dumplings, steamed greens all good. Clams with black bean sauce very good. Food was served hot and fast. Very friendly service. Our waiter and the manager doted on my daughters. They were friendly, attentive and good humored. Especially when my three year old sent the waiter off for a glass of water, then a straw, and then for a green straw. We ordered take out for the boys who were left at home. The server waited to put the order in until just before we were ready to pay so the food would be taken out hot. That was a thoughtful touch. Easy to find parking in this area. Will definitely go back.

“ I've eaten here 3 times. Not recently. The dish that I fondly remember is the sauted calamari that is knifed scored and resembles a pineapple skin, that's why they called it pineapple squid - Not because it has pineapple fruit. Served with a mild white sauce. Other items are low oil, and usually fresh tasting. Dining room is nice enough. Place settings & tableware are better quality than most low cost competitors. It's certainly a step above the typical chinese dive. ”

“ Best dim sum restaurant in San Francisco, IMHO. Ive gone here with my family every weekend for the past 10+ years. Good service, great food, and authentic (ie. they dont cater to tour books and food reviews like Ton Kiang a few blocks away).

“ best non-hole-in-the-wall authentic dim sum in the city, better than ton kiang which is overhyped... my favorite is the half dumpling w/ shark fin soup... that will already fill you up... must get the har gao which is the steamed shrimp dumplings... go in groups of 3 or 4 to order more plates for ppl to try and share...

“ This place serves family size portions @ family friendly prices in a casual environment. The Spare Ribs were tender and flavorful. The dim sum was fresh and tasty. Did you know that dim sum chefs are much like french pastry chefs in that they only make dim sum and nothing else? I'm just learning to appreciate dim sum as an adult, as a child I had an unfortunate first experience with dim sum in Chinatown that scared me. I'm working through the dim sum trauma and expect a full recovery. My treatment includes regular visits to the Mayflower for dim sum Desensitization. I love therapy! Wish me luck ;) Enjoy!

“ We were entertaining some friends from out of town, and they wanted some authentic chinese food, instead of driving to china town, we decided to try the Mayflower in the outer Richmond. This was my first visit; I started off with some shrimp dim sum, very yummy. They give you a sheet of paper so you can select which dim sum you want. They come 3 or 4 to a basket. This is important to know, because I wanted two of them. Not two baskets but two individual pieces, and when I ordered they said it was one per order, when the orders arrived there were four in each. Luckily I was hungry and ate them all :-). Next I ordered the shrimp and broccoli, the shrimp were fresh “fish tanks in lobby” and flavorful. All the other dishes were very tasty. Friendly prompt service in a nice casual environment makes the Mayflower an easy recommendation. We'll definitly be back. The dim sum is fantastic. ”

“ This place can get pretty busy (read: noisy) and we were trying it b/c Ton Kiang was even more packed. Nevertheless, we were quite satisfied with the dim sum here and found that they have more selections than Ton Kiang. Service was crappy for us. It took them a very long time to serve us our drinks and it was hard to have the staff follow through with getting that extra fork or side of hot sauce. ”
