“ The ambiance, service and food are excellent. I like the presentation of the food, very artistic and appealing. However, their prices are way too much. Hence, this neutral rating.

“ With outoftowners, you get a chance to either be treated or pick up the tab. Since it was my turn and their hotel was down the street, why not? I use to go to Nancy's place a lot when she was on Geary st, out in the fog avenues, my , from a quiet intimate place to a dining room soccer match. THIS PLACE IS LOUD! Not a place for intimate conversations, HUH WHAT DID YOU SAY? Starter where exquisite, calamari perfection, followed by the 2nd Martini, then Lamb chops the size of a manhole cover. Enough to take home for lunch the next day. The service was good, not over the top, but good. Not one of those once in a life time experiences like Gary Danko's or Hubert Keller's. Tidy bill because of the spirits, worth every slurpy penny! Too bad the noise level was high. I would love a ear protector concession in front.....

“ 11/08 Sun. Boulevard is totally adorable. Inside has Anglo-American home charm. Lady chefs deliver exquisite cuisine. Mushr%m bisque ($15.50) was well balanced in chanterelle/herb & cream base, superbly sm%th & tasty. Pan-seared gnocchi w/ ricotta filling was simply magical in d mouth. "Pekin" duck ($34) was D best I've ever tasted, period. Sonoma duck breast was pan-roasted w/ crispy skin, the leg was slow roasted & served in thick slices. Both meats were moist, tender & tasted mRvLS w/ sauteed brussels sprout, huckleberry relish, pecans, thyme & garlic. Another xlnt dish was Dixon lamb ($36). T-bone was stuffed w/ mint, parsley, parmesan & roasted in w%d oven. 1dRfL flavor like no others. I also loved D mini lamb sausage & green mashed potatoes/parsley/garlic. desserts were meticulous t% ($10.75). Coconut cream pie was served w/ frozen pineapple meringue on top. V. tropical flavor, could be a meal by itself. Creeme brulee was served on top of a spiced pumpkin pie. Pro service. 4.5* ”

“
We have experienced food from NY, Vancouver , BC, and other great cities in the US and Canada. From 5 stars to dives. We enjoyed the experience at this place, it is a not stuffy crowd ,and the waiter was great. Good service. Food was OK for the price about $75-99 per person. BUT MY HUSBAND AND I HAD BOUTS OF DIARRHEA 6 HOURS AFTER EATING THE FOOD. WHEN WE CALL WE WERE TOLD THAT FOOD POISONING CAN HAPPEN EVEN AFTERS 72 HOURS. NOT KNOWING THAT WE BOTH ARE PHYSICIANS. Usually food poisoning happens from 4-24hours. We were not trying to get any refund or anything but we wanted to let them know. But our comments were not well received by the management. Moral of the story is proper hand washing!!!! It can happen even at high end restaurants!! ”

“ I had a long, lazy lunch here not long ago. First time at Boulevard, but definitely not the last. I owed a friend a favor big time, and he felt supremely rewarded. Despite the weekday bustle, we didn't feel rushed by our waiter. We did the gamut -- seafood appetizers, red main course, dessert, and wine. All superb, and neither of us is easily impressed. Best restaurant I've been to in SF, though I've not visited Mr Danko yet. I dropped about $150 at lunchtime, but I've forgotten most of my bargain lunches, while the memory of this one lingers.

“ Boulevard is a great fine dining eperience. I went here for an anniverssary dinner a while ago and had some great fish. We brought our own wine- which was barely worth more than the corkage fee, ha! I would suggest trying the wine they have there, looked like a good list. Totally affordable night on the town. ”

“ I love this place, and love to sit by the kitchen watching them prepare each dish. Very systematic. I kept ordering more food 'cause everything was so good. Foie gras was wonderful, comparable to NYC french restaurants. The lamb chops was just perfect. All quite elegant... um um!!

“ Consistently delicious American cuisine & professional, yet friendly service @ a wonderful location near the bay. The service @ my last visit on August 26th, 2007 exceeded my expectations. We really tested our server's level of knowledge of the menu. He passed w/ flying colors & deftly guided my friend, w/ severe food allergies, towards a meal that would suit her health needs. Very similar menu to One Market down the way a couple of blocks. Expect to pay about $25 for starters, $40 for dinner entrees, $15 for desserts, $15 for wines by the glass. Recommend all dishes-meat-lovers will be especially pleased. This is a good place to bring parents, business clients, or dates. ”

“ delicious. Absolutely delicious.
Had the pork... could not have been better. We had the pleasure of being seated at the bar around the prep area, and it was really quite entertaining to watch everything be plated, as well as watching the creme brulee be fired. I highly reccomend sitting there if you have a chance. ”

I think that this restaurant is good, but doesn't really live up to its hype. The food isn't that memorable, especially for the price. I think my boyfriend (at the time) and I ended up spending just over $300... we both got a salad and an entree, and did get a nice bottle of wine, but still... we could have had 2 or 3 equally good or better dinners for that amount. ”

I had a business lunch here, and the food was delicious and fresh, though the portions were small. I would definitely go back there and try the dinner menu. The only thing bad thing is that the restrooms are outside the actual restaurant but in the same building that houses it. ”

try to avoid it at lunch time during weekdays. Waitresses are so busy that they tend to forget people who are still waiting to order. I had roasted chicken which was good but easy to forget. I would recommend it only for business meetings and make sure they don't seat you in the middle of the restaurant or you will be continuously bumped into by waitress. ”

“ Given the reputation, I was ready to be delighted. I started, as any celebratory meal should, with a Bellini. The Champagne was nice but was lacking the fresh white peach flavor that makes a Bellini heavenly, disappointing. I choose the Tuna Tartare as a starter, perfectly delicate tuna diced with cucumber and capers, assaulted by a burly french Onion Dip and potato chips? The onion dip on top overpowered the tuna, disappointing. Okay time for a new cocktail, one Blood Orange Martini please. Bitter more like pink grapefruit than the slightly sweet perfume of the blood orange. The waiter suggested I pair the tuna with the Crispy Prawns, so I did. The entr?seemed more like a starter to me, a dish to be shared before the real food got there. The shrimp was perfectly fried and of high quality. I enjoyed the air-cured pork “hairs” but still nothing outstanding. The only thing worth repeating from this meal was the dark chocolate truffle that we finished with, they were perfection. ”

“ Boulevard has established a reputation for class, high quality cuisine that is presented as an art form, every dish is impeccably presented with detailed balance of taste. I recommend any of the fish entrees, all of which are absolutely fresh; I tried the grilled florida butterfish and the dungeness crab salad both her exceptional. All the deserts are masterfully prepared; I liked the white chocolate banana cream pie and huckleberry gelee. Reservations recommended for dinner as it's usually packed.

“ One of my favorite restaurants in SF. I had nice cocktail before my lunch and all the wait staff were very nice. Atmosphere was very nice and not too loud. Place is romantic and very nice inside. We sat near the window and had a view of the bay bridge. It was the perfect table for a romantic dinner. I had Filet Mignon and it was great. Love it. Wine was awesome. We had a nice pinot noir and it was perfect with the lunch. My friends loved their dishes of pasta and steak. Wonderful service and ambiance. Expensive but worth every penny. I would definitely go again if I am in the City to meet friends or have a business lunch or dinner.

“ Definitely one of my top three in the city. Everything is always cooked to perfection. The foie gras with roasted duck was the best I've ever had (I was even thinking about getting it for dessert because I wanted it to be the last thing in my mouth!) I've never had a bad dish here, from the halibut to the pork tenderloin. This is a great place to take a date, although on the noisy side, but I never mind a bit of noise. It makes the dining experience more exciting. The cocktails are great too. ”

“ Ate a mid-week lunch here with 2 others. Even with reservations we were seated in the crowded bar at a too small of a table. All 3 of us were in suit & tie business attire, so we didn't get the "bum shuffle", the place was just too busy. Place was mayhem. Had bar patrons brushing up against me during the meal.
Food was good. We had 2 drinks each.
Lunch bill of $280 plus tip.
$100 each for Lunch! I'm way out of my normal league here value-wise.
I appreciate seeing the toniest people in San Francisco looking fabulous in the booths. This is a premium spot, lovely room, and good cuisine, but the price of admission is too steep for me. ”

“ This is a great downtown experience. You can have excellent California cuisine while overlooking the Bay. Cool. Mahi was perfectly meaty and tender, the soups rich and flavorful. The staff was professional and maybe a little stiff. The room is modern, conservative and business-like. $175 for 2. I would return for a special ocassion.

“ I was in town on business and treated to a dinner at Boulevard. What a great place. I felt very comfortable as soon as I walked through the door.
This was a working dinner so I was not able to give everything as much attention as I would have liked to, but I can say that everything I ordered was fantastic. Never mind the beef, the Yukon gold potatoes were incredible. And dessert? Make sure you get something. The three that I saw and the one that I ate were amazing. ”

“ I consider Boulevard to be the best restaurant in San Francisco. Yet it is not a "beloved" restaurant of mine. It is an excellent choice for business dining. “ Did I miss something? I feel bad being one of the few who give Boulevard a luke warm review. The service was great, the appetizer was good, but the fish was really salty. Our bill was over $350 for 4 people. The value didn't seem justified. Perhaps it was just an off night or maybe my expectations were too high. ”

“ Boulevard is a no brainer, fantastic restaurant. Very elegant, but not snooty, service and food are top notch. The New American fare is perfectly crafted, although perhaps not as creative as other spots in their echelon (Gary Danko comes to mind), but nothing is lost because everything is flawless and delicious. Pricey and worth it. ”

“ Boulevard is so well renowned, I wonder if it needs yet another review. I am with the vast majourity of the people here...it is a fantastic restaurant, from decor to service to food and presentation. I've always enjoyed their dishes which are full of flavour yet aren't overwhelming. Their meat dishes are lovely although I still remember a scallop appetitizer I had once and that was lovely as well. It's one of those restaurants where I feel you can't go wrong. And if your parents are in town and you want to impress them, take them to Boulevard. And if they pick up the check, all the better. ;-) ”

“ Boulevard is my second favorite restaurant in the City (first is Gary Danko's). They serve excellent food here. I've never been disappointed by any of the food there. Bread is fresh from Acme. If they have the chateau brion there (needs to be shared by 2 people), get it! It is the BEST beef dish that I've ever had. They change their menu seasonally, so I'm not sure if they're going to have it ever again. It is an extremely noisy restaurant, and there is a lot of hustle and bustle, so don't go here if you want a nice, quiet romantic restaurant. Their desserts are very good too. We once had a strawberry dessert that was to die for. Prices here are more reasonable than other fine-dining restaurants in the City (Aqua, Farallon, Fifth Floor, etc.) ”

Beautiful restaurant. romantic; interesting; great place for a special event. Probably my favorite spot in San Francisco. Wonderful selection of oysters for those who like slurpers before supper. Thought about performing my famous Chihuahua?shin-dance on him but restrained myself.

Don't come here for an intimate dinner or one to conduct business because you will not be able to hear anyone across your own table. The ambient noise level here is almost unbareable. “ Boulevard is my all time SF favorite. It's consistently amazingly near perfect! Great food, locale, view, ambience, and service. The wood burning and cooking smells coming out of the restaurant in the morning can really make you drool - I think they smoke their own meats or something (I work in the building kitty-corner to it).
