Completely lacking in ambiance, but the pizza is GREAT the next day cold! Service is lacking, the restaurant is completely uninviting on the inside, you are given a thin paper plate that soaks through with the first piece of pizza, a plastic knife and fork. This is minimalism to the extreme. The dining area is basically four rows of two-tops strung together (that is, there is nowhere to sit, if you're a single). When the place gets busy, you can count on companions at your table (unless you sit outside on the sidewalk). The pizza was okay, hot, but was PHENOMENAL the next morning, cold. Take some home in their true-to-form minimalist, thin, plain, white box (be sure not to sit it on anything that might stain, as it, too, will soak through on the bottom). I had the three meat pizza. It was more than tasty. This place truly is all about the pizza. You wouldn't want to bring a date here...but it's good if you're in a local hotel that has a small refrigerator! ”

“If you don't like Indian, going here is probably not your best move. If you have adventurous taste buds and are looking for an upscale environment full of helpful staff and a great bar, then is this the place for you. I came here with a pretty mixed crowd (vegetarians, meat eaters, gluten-free etc) and everyone was able to order something to their spice level and we all left full and happy. The food is great, but definitely save room for some mango ice cream to finish things off. Yum! ”

We ate there last Sunday evening. The place was packed. A fantastic jazz guitarist played on the 2nd floor. great music, but the service was horrific--a minus 10. It took 20 minutes to get a glass of water, which should have been our first cue; I ordered a Porterhouse steak--after all, this is supposedly a steak house so I asked for it to be cooked Chicago style, medium rare. The waiter looked at me like I was asking for a Tasmanian crab dish. No clue. The steak came rare, two grill marks, not charred. I sent it back. They brought it back with a few more grill marks and I couldn't believe the ineptitude. I spoke to the manager and they took it off my bill and offered us free dessert--a very good cheesecake, but it went down poorly considering the terrible dinner. BTW, the steamed clams were also very bad--tasteless. Given the number of great places to eat in SF, avoid this place at all costs unless you want to waste your money. ”

"Excellent Pizza, Super Friendly Service!" by coquettedesigns (1 review)
July 09, 2010 - Likes it - I just moved out here from the midwest and have to say it was a bit of a culture shock that people just aren't as friendly or helpful towards strangers out here, especially in the customer service industry. I don't usually write reviews, but just had to for Dario's. Not only was our dinner delicious, but everyone that helped us was so friendly! The waitress even gave us some information of places to take my family (who was visiting) besides the regular tourist spots. We've been back four times since, and every time the dinner has been great, and the service is fast and always with a smile....they make you feel like family. I also found out they deliver and they have great deals on deliveries on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays! I would definitely recommend them to a friend! ”
